My Philosophy

At Kluane Esthétique my aim is to provide my clients with excellent aesthetic services in an affordable manner.  I believe in developing a strong and lasting relationship with my clients and the community of Wakefield. my ultimate goal is to ensure my clients leave feeling relaxed, refreshed and renewed.

The Kluane Story

In early 1897 my great grandfather, at the age of forty-eight, left his home in the upper Ottawa valley to join the great gold rush to the Klondike. By train, then by ship he arrived in Skagway Alaska that spring. With thousands of other fortune seekers he walked the hundred miles over the Chilkoot and White Passes to what would become Whitehorse. He never found gold in the ground but stayed on for twenty years, becoming the assistant gold commissioner for the Territory and marrying a girl from up the Pontiac.

They raised four children there, the first two born in a two room log cabin. My great grandmother loved everything about the ruggedness of the Yukon wilderness and frontier life and named her first three children after lakes in the region, Frances, Lewis and Kluane – my great aunt.

Living in Toronto in the roaring twenties she became a mild mannered teacher during the week while fully embracing the fun loving flapper style and manners of the times. Kluane was my father’s favourite aunt and well loved by my mother.  She was fun loving and an unapologetic rebel and when I was born I was given Kluane as my middle name in her honour.

Fast forward to 2013 and the story of my Aunt Kluane comes full circle and finds itself and Klü-a-nē Esthétique a small and affordable aesthetics day spa, happily nestled in the beautiful village of Wakefield, Quebec.  Klü-a-nē Esthétique's management and service provider, consists of one sole proprietor and namesake to Aunt Kluane,  Kate "Kluane" Miller.   With over eight years of professional experience in the spa and beauty industry as well as holding the position of Senior Esthetician at the top Salon & Spa in Kingston, Ontario and surrounding area, I have established myself as one of top aestheticians across Ontario and now live locally in Wakefield. With countless hours of beauty and wellness industry workshops, related product courses and spa business seminars attended and completed, I have acquired the hands-on experience on how to successfully build and maintain a thriving esthetics spa.

"I believe being an aesthetician is one of the most incredibly rewarding professions. There is not a better feeling then having a client come in with a concern or request to do with their overall well-being or beauty and being able to help them solve it."  - Kate Miller
